 Conquerors and it happened that Mexico & Colombia share the same year of their emancipation from Spain. To celebrate this important event Bogotá’s government, capital of Colombia decide to bring to the Colombian Community in USA their Philharmonic Orchestra (OFB) with a program they have been promoting since 2009 around the World.

 “Mestizaje” (the mix between the Spaniards with the American Natives) is a program that honored a mixture of all kind of rhythms and instruments as well.
Maria Claudia Parias Duran, General Manager Bogotá’s Orchestra Philharmonic, in exclusive interview at the Adrienne Arsht Center of the Performing Arts; Said:

“The internationalization of the OFB ( Bogotá’s Philharmonic Orchestra) started in 2009 with a tour in nine cities in China and Italy, promoting the Colombian talents   and the highest cultural level of our musicians”  Press was allow to attend the rehearsal and with it to have access to the young Director Ricardo Jaramillo who explained in one on one interview that “Mestizaje” program has a lot to offer to all audiences; however we were curious how classic musicians can get along with singers and composers announced in the program that clearly doesn’t have any formal training in music…

 “We found harmony and both sides we work together to set this program” a great program with a variety of music genders were in the program: Rock-pop with Andres Cepeda, Tropical and salsa beats with Janio Coronado, Native Colombian rhythms with Afro-Latin music, with Toto la Momposina, Hip-Hop with Choc QuibTown, Jazz-Bossa-Nova with Monica Giraldo, and the great Juancho Fernánadez. The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts was full as its entire capacity at least a couple of hundreds were around the theater looking for tickets.

 Minutes before the Concert started we have the opportunity to sit with Concert Master Luis M. Niño Rodriguez and first viola and group leader Anibal Dos Santos, who shared their anecdotes during their China tour which we can’t imagine the reaction of that audience, they give us up heads about a surprise we will have during the concert and breaking the preconceived idea about the intellectual behavior and distance between up-scale conservatory musicians like them with the pop and popular composers and singers they are working within this “Mestizaje” tour, both agree:

 “We are like any other human beings and we love to have fun doing what we know how to do”. Also there is a general appreciation that musicians use to live a very bohemian live and unable to have the benefits of a good job, but on the contrary being a classic musician and get at that level is not only well paid and with a lot of benefits but give them the opportunity to travel around the world and educate other cultures about the richest variety and talent as contribution to the humanity.

The Show started with the welcome by local authorities of Miami City to the Bogotá’s Mayor Samuel Moreno Rojas, who also give away presents to congress man Mario Diaz Balart who leave the place before the concert start. Light were down and the 84 musicians dress up in sophisticated elegance black & white tuxedos and long night gowns ready to perform.

Maestro Conductor Ricardo Jaramillo arrived to the stage and direct 11 classical Colombian pieces as part of the first part on the program, after the intermezzo singers were coming to the stage and in beautiful music arrangements sang without any technological support as they use to have in their own presentations, even thought Totó la Momposina and her percussion group make the ensemble not only to enhance her performance but sang the choir for “Rosa y el pescador” ( Rose and the fisherman) song, and even people stand up, the high light was the great up and high notes maintain in a long period of time the 80’s year old Colombian tribe native Juancho Fernandez.

 People make him come back to the stage, and the entire Orchestra was part of that presentation not only as musicians but wearing hats by the men and women wearing flowers in their hair that nobody expects they would break that formal look than usually classical music protocol required.

 The audience was totally exited clapping, singing and balancing in the aisles nobody want to leave, celebrities and VIP diplomatic guest stayed till the end in a concert of a very classic music with a festive Colombian flavor.

El Bicentenario de la Independencia de Bogotá es celebra con la Orquesta Filarmónica de Bogotá en Miami, Fl

Varios países de Latinoamérica  celebran casi al mismo tiempo su Independencia de los países conquistadores de  Europa y en particular de España.

Sucede que México y Colombia están celebrando el Bicentenario de su Independencia y  para celebrar esta importante Fecha  el Gobierno de la Ciudad de Bogotá Capital de Colombia decidió ofrecerle a la comunidad colombiana la oportunidad de celebrar  en los Estados Unidos con la Orquesta Filarmónica de Bogotá  OFB, en un programa musical  que está dando la vuelta al mundo desde el 2009.

“Mestizaje” (la mescla entre los Españoles y las tribus  nativas de América)  es el  nombre del programa  que honrar esa fusión  pero que ahora lo hace con toda clase de ritmos e instrumentos musicales. María Claudia Parias Duran, Directora General de la Orquesta Filarmónica de Bogotá, en una entrevista exclusive en el Adrienne Arsht Center of the Performing Arts comentó:

 “La internacionalización de la  Orquesta Filarmónica de Bogotá comenzó en el 2009 con un tour en 9 ciudades en China e Italia  promoviendo el alto nivel cultural y el talento de los músicos colombianos. La prensa tuvo acceso al ensayo general, de tal forma que también con el joven Maestro y Director Ricardo Jaramillo, quien en una entrevista uno a uno, nos comento como fue que este programa fue concebido y todo lo que está ofreciendo a todo tipo de audiencias, no obstante la curiosidad de cómo músicos clásicos logran alternan con compositores anunciados en el programa sin ninguna formación académica musical.

 “Encontramos la armonía en los dos lados adaptándonos seguimos y nos siguen de esa forma podemos trabajar juntos en este programa”  Un excelente programa con una gran variedad de géneros musicales como Rock-Pop con Andrés Cepeda, Tropical y salsa ritmos con Janio Coronado, Ritmos nativos colombianos con Afro-latinos  con Totó la Momposina, Hip-Hop a cargo de Choc Quib Town; Jazz-Bossa-Nova con Mónica Giraldo, y el gran Juancho Fernández. El Centro para las Artes  Adrienne Arsht Center estuvo lleno a toda su capacidad y había al menos otras doscientas personas en largas filas alrededor del edificio  esperando alguna posibilidad de conseguir una entrada.

 Minutos antes de iniciar el concierto  tuvimos la oportunidad de sentarnos con el maestro y concertino principal Luis M. Niño Rodríguez  y el maestro y Líder de grupo de violas maestro Aníbal Dos Santos, quienes compartieron sus anécdotas  durante su tour en China, imposible imaginar la reacción de esa audiencia, y al mismo tiempo nos advirtieron sobre la sorpresas que tendríamos en el concierto, sorpresiva también fue su confesión sobre la preconcebida idea y el comportamiento que intelectuales usan para distanciarse entre los músicos con alta preparación académica de conservatorios como ellos y con compositores y cantantes con los que ahora comparten el escenario con géneros pop y música popular en este tour de “Mestizaje”: “Somos como cualquier otro ser humano que amamos y nos divertimos con lo que sabemos hacer”.

De la misma forma es una apreciación general que los músicos tienen vidas bohemias porque no tienen ni los sueldos ni las prestaciones de un buen trabajo, por el contrario  ser un músico clásico profesional no solo proporciona un salario de alto nivel con excelentes beneficios pero con la oportunidad de viajar alrededor del mundo  y educar otras culturas  de la riqueza variedad y talento haciendo una enrome contribución a la humanidad.

El Show comenzó con la bienvenida de las autoridades locales de la Ciudad de Miami en la Florida al Alcalde de la ciudad de Bogotá Samuel Moreno Rojas quien al mismo tiempo entrego un regalo al congresista Mario Diaz Balart  quien dejo el reciento mucho antes de que empezara el concierto. Las luces se desvanecieron  y los 84 maestros ejecutantes  vestidos en una elegante y sofisticado blanco y negro smokings para los hombres y vestidos largos para las mujeres  estaban listos para la presentación.

 El Maestro Conductor Ricardo Jaramillo llegó al pódium y dirigió de 11 piezas Colombianas clásicas que integraron la primera parte del programa. Después del Intermedio  los cantantes  entraban en el escenario y los bellos arreglos musicales sin ningún soporte tecnológico como generalmente lo usan en sus presentaciones personales que hasta Totó la Momposina con su grupo de percusionistas logran una increíble y armoniosa combinación con esta orquesta la que enriqueció su presentación pero al igual ellos fueron el coro que la acompañaran en la canción de “ Rosa y El Pescador” pero lo más sobresaliente del concierto  fueron los altos falsetes y las largas notas que mantuviera el Octonario nativo de Colombia nativo de Colombia

Los asistentes al concierto lo hicieron regresar al escenario y la orquesta fue parte del show no únicamente con su música sino que de lanada salieron sombreros para los hombres y flores para el cabello de las mujeres, un rompimiento de la imagen formal de músicos clásicos, logrando una excitación del público asistente que levantado de sus asientos no dejaban de aplaudir  y de balancearse en sus asientos, nadie quería irse, celebridades y diplomáticos invitados en el VIP  estuvieron hasta el final  en un concierto con música clásica pero con el sabor festivo colombiano.
